Employee Giving Campaigns
Want an easy way to help make a difference in your community?
Hundreds of workplaces in Central and Northern Vancouver Island support United Way's Community Fund each year.
Together, these caring companies, employees and union members give over 55% of the total amount raised for the Community Fund.
Here's how you can help:
Make A Corporate Gift
Demonstrate your commitment to the community. Your effort to match employee contributions creates double the impact and provides an extra incentive for employees to participate.
This year we had three Campaign Associates helping us during campaign time.

Each year, community-minded workplaces loan their employees to us for 16 weeks. Loaned representatives are an integral part of workplace campaigns and have an opportunity to raise the profile of their own workplaces in the wider community.
Sponsorship at United Way can involve anything from monetary donations to gift or services in-kind, in return for various levels of recognition and visibility.
Run An Employee Campaign
For a campaign to be effective, your organization will need an Employee Campaign Coordinator (ECC) to coordinate the campaign.
The corporate goal can be a benchmark of total dollars to be raised OR the percentage of employees participating. Participation rate is a particularly motivating goal in the first year as it can be a powerful team builder.
The ECC coordinates with your organization's Human Resources staff person to design a 2-3 week campaign. They decide on timing, how best to celebrate the Community Fund Kick Off corporately, who will get the word out and when to report updates.
Workplace Campaigns may be as simple or as elaborate as you like.
Typical workplace campaigns include a Kick Off, canvassing with incentives such as Early Bird draws and donation increases, special events and a wrap up.
Our staff and volunteers will work closely with your team to create a campaign tailored to meet your needs.
Ways to encourage participation:
Organize a Jeans Day for a day or a month
Offer an incentive (a percentage of sales (or a specific item) will be donated to your local United Way
Plan a fundraiser event where the proceeds go to your local United Way
We offer a bank of speakers from programs receiving United Way funding who will come to speak to businesses who have Employee Campaigns. Their stories give your employees a deeper understanding of where donations are allocated and how many lives are affected.
